I’m enchanted by the raw beauty and stunning contradictions inherent in the real visual landscapes of our environment. It’s my joy to capture unseen moments and share them with you.
But I’ve been afflicted as well with a restless desire to create something else, something new. As I searched for an alternate approach to photography, by great good fortune I discovered inspiration in five fine artists:
Laurent Chéhère, who has created stunning flying houses.
Jerome Conway, whose compiled images are so beautifully integrated that they appear to be other-worldly paintings.
Terry Gilliam, who created remarkable, crazy, hilarious animations for the television series Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
My grandmother Lilian, a highly talented, if under-appreciated, watercolourist.
And my great grandfather Herbert, a skilled painter of landscapes.
Spurred on by these influences, I began to excavate my inner landscape, developing a series of fantastical compositions.
